Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
SNAP offers nutritional assistance to millions of eligible, low income individuals and families and provides economic benefits to communities. SNAP is the largest program in the domestic hunger safety net. The Food and Nutrition Service works with State agencies, nutritional educators, and neighborhood and faith-based organizations to ensure that those eligible for nutritional assistance can make informed decisions about applying for the program and can access benefits.
FNS also works with State partners and the retail community to improve program administration and ensure integrity of the program.
Sowing Seeds
“Sowing Seeds is a network of people who share their time, ideas and special gifts providing the support to empower each person to replace darkness, despair and hopelessness with dignity and self-esteem. We are committed to sowing and nurturing the seeds of hope in a prayerful and spirit-filled environment of networking and advocacy for those who feel frustrated, alone, impoverished or forgotten.”
Marshfield Boys and Girls Club
The Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield currently serves youth, ages 5-18 years old and serves as a second home to many children of working parents. The Club’s primary focus is to keep children safe and engaged. The after-school hours are the most vulnerable time for latch-key kids. Although the Club’s primary population is Marshfield residents, we are currently expanding our reach and offer resources to the greater South Shore community.
The Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield currently has 500 families as members of the club. Of these families, 40% are low to moderate-income, many of which do not have adequate child care. In addition, our inclusion program which services kids with special needs including social, learning disabilities, emotional, mental, and physically challenged, represent 55% of the children served.
